How to Enjoy Your Fall Getaway

The fall color show in Kentucky is nothing short of spectacular, but it’s not the only reason to visit this September.  The popular Kentucky Bourbon Festival is underway, and the excitement can be felt everywhere you go. Bourbon lovers should no doubt take a tour of Bardstown’s Bourbon Distilleries.  There are 6 bourbon distilleries in the area, including Barton 1792 Distillery and Visitor Center; Jim Beam American Stillhouse, Maker’s Mark Distillery, Four Roses Distillery, Willett Distillery, and Heaven Hill Distilleries Bourbon Heritage Center.  Each is Fall Getaway to Bourbon Country in Bardstown, Kentuckyworth visiting in their own right, as they all work with their own unique flavors and traditions. For an even a deeper appreciate for Kentucky’s Bourbon history at the Oscar Getz Museum of Whiskey History.

When you’re ready to appreciate the beauty of fall, there’s no place better than the Bernheim Arboretum & Research Forest.  It’s one of the most popular places for fall foliage in all of Kentucky.  As you hike along the trails, you’ll enjoy colorful maples, dogwoods, magnolias, conifers, cypresses, hollies, beeches and buckeyes.  Bernheim’s annual Colorfest will take place on October 21, 2017.  For something a little more passive, sit back and relax, and enjoy fall’s incredible scenery aboard a historic Train Ride through the scenic Rolling Fork River Valley with the Kentucky Railway Museum.

After a chilly fall day enjoying Bardstown’s incredible scenery, there is nothing better than coming home to the Bourbon Manor Bed and Breakfast, where you’ll find our Bourbon Bar and Lounge, The Bunghole. It’s housed on property, in a fully renovated 3-story historic tobacco barn.  This fall, we’re serving up an incredible array of delicious cocktails and small bites to complement your getaway.  Our featured drink for the season is a deliciously unique concoction called Honey Bourbon Cider.  The recipe is as follows:
